Remodeling or renovating your store can seem overwhelming and financially impossible but sometimes, it's just plain necessary. Repeat customers are a wonderful thing but as we all know, even the best of customers can miss what's right in front of them if you don't change up your displays now and again. It's not always feasible to close down and redo everything but you can give your store a gradual makeover for similar results with fewer headaches and less financial output.

Break into smaller sections first!
To start with, we suggest breaking your store up into physical areas and/or groups of like merchandise. Our big warehouse is separated by a room designation and then further by aisle or section of merchandise. For example, in our Warehouse A, we have Acrylic, Grid Hardware, Used Glass, and Used Casters, among others. If we were to think of redoing our entire 44,000 sq feet, I assure you, we'd be crying in our margaritas. Instead, we take it one section at a time. If your store is small, you can break it up even further into specific cases or displays.

Establish an order and dive in! 
Once you've done this, put them in order, any order will do. You can start with the easiest, most desperately needy, or closest to the door, whatever works for you. Give yourself a few hours to a month (depending on the size of the area, amount of change needed, and your schedule) to do each section. Be generous, things always take longer than we think and with any luck, your store isn't going anywhere. Now, take a look at the first section on your list. Joan would tell you (and the Store Fixture Fairy wouldn't steer you wrong) that a good cleaning is the first priority. After that, try to look at it as a decorator. Can you see everything displayed? Are items easy to find? Well marked? Well lit? Are you using the space wisely? Have you crammed in too much or too little? Are you using the walls or even the ceiling? Is your head spinning yet?
