Used Forms - Fact or Fiction? E-mail

Mannequin Phobic? Buy a Form!
If you sell any type of clothing, mannequins are invaluable visual tools but have you priced new mannequins lately? We have and they are not cheap. Even if you can find 'economy' versions online, the shipping costs alone can kill your budget. You could always come down to our warehouse and check out our stock of quality new & used mannequins but we know that even used mannequins are a big investment. So what's a budget-minded store owner to do? Why buy used forms, of course! Forms are not as detailed as mannequins and therefore not nearly as expensive. And where else would you find such gems other than your very own, Portland Store Fixtures?

But What is a Form, Oh Wise One?
Most forms are headless, armless, and legless. What does that leave? The all important torso. That's right, for displaying shirts and dresses, all you really need is a torso and maybe a stand but we'll get to that later. Forms can be male or female (or both if you've read our cross-dressing article) and are usually covered in a linen-like material. They are also lightweight and sturdy enough for travel, if you are so inclined. We refer to forms as being either a waist form or a torso form. Waist forms stop at the waist and are best used to display shirts and dresses. Torso forms include partial thighs and can do everything a waist form can do, plus display pants.

But Can They Do the Merengue?
Alas, neither waist forms, nor torso forms can dance but they look darn good in your product, which brings us to the question of display. If your store or booth is rich in floor space, you can purchase a floor stand to go with your form. Floor stands are adjustable in height and are intended to put the form at about normal human height. If your store is fresh out of floor, you can purchase a counter stand. Counter stands raise the form up maybe two feet, which is just enough for a shirt or a short dress. Most forms, both waist and torso, can also be placed on a counter without a base at all, although this does place them at a greater risk of falling. This concludes your lesson. Please hasten to your nearest Portland Store Fixtures to get thee a form.
