We opened our doors in August of 1998 and in retrospect, we''ll admit the whole thing seems a little crazy. Our original address was 135 SE Main St, right across the street from where we are now. We had our name painted on the window, 4000 square feet of (mostly) empty warehouse, a handful of used fixtures and a delivery box van which was our only vehicle at the time. We had no idea what many of the things were when we brought them in and had to look them up in our competitors catalogs to figure out what they were. By the time we paid the first and last months rent, security deposit, insurance, and phone bill, we had $200 to our name and a month to make up the difference. That was a real motivator to get our name out there!

In the beginning, we were Penney and Kat. We did sales, bookkeeping, delivery, pickup and custom building. We did it all! It wasn't until our 4th year, during the move across the street, that we finally hired someone full time. That was also the year we started stocking new inventory. We wanted to have more options for our clients and had finally run out of hours in the day to do it all ourselves. We gradually added bags, tags, hooks and grid. Now we stock practically everything you need to run a store, with the exception of employees. We like ours and you can't have them.

Over the years we have added more great people to provide the kind of customer service that we expect and more square footage so that we are able to keep in stock the items that you will need. We are up to 32,000 square feet and 6 employees (not counting the dogs) and now we even have this cool website so you can order store fixtures from the convenience of your own home!

In case you haven't noticed, one of the key words in our mission statement is fun for you, our employees and for us. This does not mean that we take our jobs lightly. We try not to make too many mistakes and when we do, we do everything that we can to fix them because ultimately our job is making yours easier.
