Cash Counter and Showcases? E-mail
We have cash counters, sometimes called cash wraps, and we also carry showcases. The difference between the two is that a showcase looks like a counter but it has a glass front and top and a cash counter has solid sides and top with no glass. So, if you are looking for more display space, a showcase is the way to go. If you need a place to ring up customers and store your bags and maybe some messy paperwork, then you need a cash counter. If you're not sure what type you would like read on...

Cash counters come in a few different shapes and sizes. The standard length of a cash counter is 48” or 72”, the height is usually 38” and the depth is about 22”. All of the measurements can vary but they are generally in that range. Because we carry new and used we have seen counters that are really deep or tall or long and there can be a variety of reasons for that.

The most common cash counter has a flat top and really just looks like a counter, you can put your cash register on it and go to work. But there is another type of cash counter call a ledge-top counter. These counters have a ledge running across the front of the counter and creates a flat surface about 12” above the counter so you can set your register or computer monitor behind it and it gives the customer a ledge to write their check on. It also gives you a cubby-like area to put paperwork and supplies.

The dimensions of a showcase are similar to the cash counters but there are also different types of showcases. A full vision case has glass on the top and front of the case, if it is an economy counter it will probably have solid sides instead of glass sides. Materials in most showcases can be accessed from the back via sliding doors but there are some cases that are built to be front loading. Full vision cases will also usually have one or two shelves inside to help you display more material. Full vision showcases rarely have room for storage. Partial vision showcase will have glass on the top and either ¾ or ½ of the front and may have one shelf but it all depends on the case. Partial vision showcases generally have some storage room in the form of shelves or drawers. The third kind of showcase commonly found is a jewelry vision showcase, these cases usually have glass on the top ¼ of the front of the case. Jewelry cases or quarter vision cases rarely have the room to put in a shelf and tend to have storage.

We sell a few different lines of new cases and counters and we tend to have some used ones on hand. When you are thinking about counters and cases keep these things in mind: Do you need lights in the case? Will you need locks on the sliding doors? Do you need storage? Will you have a showcase standing alone or in a run of cases?  It sounds like a lot to think about but we want to make sure you get the right showcase or cash counter for your store.
