Organizing for a New Year

I don’t know about all of you, but now that the holiday decorations are packed up and the pile of candy is nothing but a pile of wrappers, I’m ready for some nesting… some cleaning… some reorganizing because I can’t live with the squalor for one more second.

So I’ve been thinking about bookcases, other kinds of shelving units, grid panels, slat wall, plastic hangers, paper sorters, and anything else in which you might be able to put/store/hide things.

I’ve thought about hanging grid panels in my garage. Grid is perfect for hanging tools. It’s also great for putting up shelves on which to place bins for sorting small things – like screws and other tiny hardware. Grid panels are also great for the kitchen – perhaps for a pot rack or utensil organizer, a coat rack, or extra pantry shelving.

How about a wire paper sorter for keeping all of your children’s school papers organized? Or for taming your unruly desk, sorting household paperwork, or at least keeping all of your tax forms up off the floor.

Add shelves to your closets with standards – perfect for organizing shoes, folded items, and winter gear. And plastic department store hangers that look nice and keep my clothes looking their best.

Find an attractive necklace, bracelet, or ring display to keep all of your jewelry organized and out where you can get to it. Not only will it keep your jewelry sorted and easily accessible, but it will also make the top of your dresser look fantastic.
There are a million different home organizing applications for store fixtures. So take some measurements of your space and come browse. You never know what you’re going to find.
