Paint!
Change your world!
Well...ok...let's start smaller, change your store!
Paint is the cheapest way to make things look new and different. We have customers who, instead of hoping to find matching used fixtures or buying completely new ones, have purchased used fixtures and painted everything (including fixtures they already had) the same color. Color matched fixtures ties everything in your store together, making it an appealing place to shop.
Many things can be painted- metal, wood, laminate and even plastic. Successful painting is all about the prep. You have two choices when it comes to painting: you can paint your fixtures yourself or you can have it done professionally. To have it done professionally, call around to some local powder coaters to check pricing and find out if you need to do anything to prepare your fixtures for painting. To paint your fixtures yourself, the surface of your items should be clean, and, if necessary, roughed up with sandpaper (to make sure the paint sticks). Prime the surface (many metal or plastic items don't need priming but wood and laminates will), and then paint with appropriate paint. Spray paint is a great option. Apply it in several thinner coats, letting it dry between sprays for a more even color.
Painting one wall can make a huge visual impact in your store or you can go all out and paint the entire place! You can paint small things like a jewelry display or pedestals or picture frames. You could paint medium sized things like clothing racks or slatwall towers or that cabinet in the corner. Either way, simply freshening up something will make you feel better and your customers feel invigorated about shopping with you (even if they don't know why.)
