So I read the PCMag.com's list of the best free software every year. It always gives me some new ideas and something I can take a look without the fear that it will screw up my computer. My favorite this year is Sweet Home 3D's free interior design program. It's the more tree-friendly equivalent of mapping out your store on graph paper and making paper cutouts of all your fixtures.

They have an extensive library of furniture, the ability to save and print your projects, and the whole thing can be viewed as a 3-dimensional image so you can see what your space would really look like. It takes a little getting used to if you don't use a whole lot of manipulatable software, but it's worth your time to figure it out. It's certainly going to be easier than finding the muscular descendants of Roman gods to do the heavy lifting.
